‘Glistening Hope’, 2014, paper and acrylic on canvas. 91.5cm x 91.5cm x 4.5cm
Artist Statement:
In the depths of the earth, gold stores lay liquid and gleaming. The earth, ever creating and moving causes giant plates to jolt and collide. Earthquakes split rocks and gold is drawn upward, through fissures of shattered mantle. Its then that we see glistening sparkles. The precious metal sort after, we dig down to discover and reveal.
This work emulates a definition of prophecy: to see the gold in someone and help them to dig it out.
If you were this painting… What earthquakes have you endured? What glistening gold may have/has been released in you, in your life? What do you see glistening in others? We can’t fully see ourselves, like looking in a mirror, we never see our backs…so we need to be encouraged with the glimmers of glistening hope.
