“Each form holds within it the ability to command space, through its volume of material, its length, height, width, its textures and colours. It is made from particles of shaped dust; the material of clay moved and molded in my hands with a variety of tools and time.
Mistakes whilst making with the damp clay may mar the surface or break the form, but I can smooth and reshape, create additions and rework breakages to work with the material to find the form it wants to be.
Each one is unique, even if it’s a repetition. Slight variations in posture, surface, shape – they are not cast replicas, but handmade individuals, born from the clay, the imagination and the hand.”
