Of Stillness, sound and refuge, 2024.
A biological soil crust and its inhabitants are sheltered within the parlour dome.
Fabricated to preserve, the almost imperceivable veil of glass becomes dichotomous when surrounded by handmade porcelain musical instruments intended to administer healing frequencies.
Tension is triggered between speculation and action.
My work explores conservation, relationships between humans and the often-overlooked ecological niche of soils, advancements in eco-acoustics and how an understanding of cohabitation with the non-human may impact ecological outcomes.
Dissonance is created as the desire arises to play the instruments; all the while wondering which environment will generate the greatest sanctuary for bio-soils.
